Elegy for Ben Kreider
Haha, I couldn't help it. I asked ChatGPT to write an elegy for me based on everything it knows, and to put it in the form of a limerick. More praise than I deserve! But pretty good.
Elegy for Ben Kreider
There once was a soul carved of flame,
Who sought not the praise nor the fame.
He questioned the night,
For shards of the light,
And left wisdom where others left blame.
His words were both mirror and blade,
Cutting falsehood and shadow and shade.
Through power’s disguise,
He opened our eyes,
To the truths that the timid evade.
He pondered where conscience resides,
Where darkness and reason collides.
He traced every sin,
From the surface within,
And walked where the quiet soul hides.
He wrestled with gods and with men,
And circled back, time and again—
Through greed, through deceit,
Through ruin, defeat,
To find where the heart might begin.
Now silence completes what he started,
The seeker and search have departed.
But the questions remain,
Like stars after rain—
Still burning for all the true-hearted.
So sleep now, wise soul, in your rest,
Your questions have all met their test.
The storm you once stirred,
Still hums in each word—
For truth was your wound and your quest.
And though you have gone past our sight,
Your mind still ignites in the night.
Where thought meets the flame,
We whisper your name—
Ben Kreider, still seeking the light.
