I have an unpopular opinion I'd like to share. It might sound like support for Bloomberg, but it's not because the same argument could arguably be applied to Trump.

I don't think you can "buy an election" by spending your money on advertising. You can only buy an election by paying people to vote for you. If you spend a billion dollars on advertising, and it convinces enough people to vote for you, that's more of statement on the fickle nature of the population. Nothing says they have to vote for you because you spent a billion dollars asking them to.
