Spider Moms From 99 Million BC
Wow, 700 home runs for Albert Pujols. I remember a meer two decades ago when he first started, and the Phillies announcers joked, "Pu-JOLES to his friends."
Classy answer when asked about the home run afterward- "It was always about the championships."
I never thought I would see a legit 700 home run career in my lifetime.

I was in the second row behind the Phillies dugout the other night when Vierling singled in the 10th to win it. You can see me pretty clearly in the stands during the game on the first base side when left-handed hitter's hit. A friend of mine sent me a great text.
"I've seen you a couple of times now. You watch baseball like me. You actually watch it! You are not playing grab ass, standing up, cheering, mooning the camera. You just sit staring ahead with arms folded like a proper observer. Well done Ben! I would be happy to sit next to you."
Haha!

I like watching Gretel do her first 15 minutes of school through Zoom before I leave for work. Who can remember what 1st grade was like??? Her class starts each day with a question, and everybody has to answer. Today they had to say who their favorite singer is. Gretel told me she was going to say Mozart, but I reminded her that he's not a singer. Guess who she picked instead- Weird Al Yankovic!

Oh my goodness... look at Gretel's schoolwork from today. She had to write three sentences about music. We listened to We're Not Going To Take It about 50 times driving to and from the beach last weekend.

Trump appears to be backtracking, saying through his word person that he'd accept a free and fair election. But don't be fooled by this clown- his DEFINITION of a free and fair election is one he wins, the end. This is a genuine threat to democracy, unheard of in the country's history.

Postscript- His number one sin, he never said he'd commit to the peaceful transfer of power. And why would he? To even accept it implies the possibility he could lose. He would commit to the peaceful transfer of power and then there WASN'T a peaceful transfer of power.
...
Today Mitch McConnell committed to having a peaceful transfer of power if the president loses, and for about 8 and 1/2 seconds he seemed like the greatest patriot in the history of the country. Again... by defying the president, and committing to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses.*
I feel a bit like David after he went to the dentist- "Is this real life?" And also, "AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

SEE THAT MY GRAVE IS KEPT CLEAN
Well, there's one kind-a favor I'll ask of you
Well, there's one kind-a favor I'll ask of you
There's just one kind favor I'll ask of you
You can see that my grave is kept clean
And there's two white horses following me
And there's two white horses following me
I got two white horses following me
Waiting on my burying ground
Did you ever hear that coughin' sound?
Did you ever hear that coughin' sound?
Did you ever hear that coughin' sound?
Means another poor boy is underground
Did you ever hear them church bells tone?
Have you ever hear that church bells tone?
Did you ever hear them church bells tone?
Means another poor boy is dead and gone
And my heart stopped beating and my hands turned cold
And my heart stopped beating and my hands turned cold
And my heart stopped beating and my hands turned cold
Now I believe what the Bible told
There's just one last favor I'll ask of you
And there's one last favor I'll ask of you
There's just one last favor I'll ask of you
See that my grave is kept clean

Fitzgerald again, from The Notebooks:
"Once there was a whole lot of bird seed around the room because an author had adopted a chicken. It was impossible to explain to anyone just why he had adopted the chicken but still more impossible to know why he had bought the bird seed for the chicken. The chicken was later broiled and the bird seed thrown out, but the question of whether the man was an author or a lunatic was still unsolved in the minds of the hotel servants who had to deal with the situation. The hotel servants didn’t understand it. They didn’t understand how months later the author could write a story about it but they all bought the magazine."
