Dorothy Parker's Ashes, Actual Sheeple, The Thistle, The Unchosen One

Dorothy Parker was born on this day in 1893.

Razors pain you,

Rivers are damp,

Acids stain you,

And drugs cause cramp.

Guns aren't lawful,

Nooses give,

Gas smells awful.

You might as well live.

She was cremated, and her ashes remained unclaimed in a filing cabinet for approximated 17 years until they were given to the NAACP.

New York Times - No, ivermectin does not treat or prevent covid-19.

Someone commented: "They'll call the vaccinated "sheep" in one breath and then take livestock medicine in the next."

Can we make that person a professional commenter?

When someone's middle initial is V, it sounds like their first name is battling their last name in court.

My kids are serious chips off the old block. I put on a Buddy Holly song for the first time today and they both started asking questions rapid-fire.

"Is he still alive?"

"How old would he be?"

"How did he die?"

"Why did they fly a plane in the snow?"

"Did they crash into a mountain?"

"How old was he when he died?"

It's pretty shocking to witness people growing up, their brains apparently developing into your own.

Some nice pics of Zuzu bugging Gretel at Pine Grove Cemetery in Bowmansville by the graves of their Grandpa's Grandma's Grandma's Grandma and Grandpa- Henry (1741-1816) and Walbina Good (1749-1821.) Not too many people named Walbina anymore, huh? Maybe there wasn't then either, somehow it was a nickname for Wallendine. Henry's parents immigrated here to escape religion persecution on the ship, Thistle.

These "Trump is the chosen one" articles on conservative sites are generating some comments that are totally bananas. A typical one goes like this- "This is being blown totally out of proportion, he was chosen by 63 million Americans to be president. And yes by the way, God also chose him to fix this country." So they are saying it's being blown out of proportion, yet in the same breath agreeing precisely with the way they think it's being blown out of proportion.

If Lindsay Graham had his way and Clinton was impeached to preserve the integrity of the office, Gore would have been elected president and won reelection in 2000 since incumbancy is a benefit and he only needed a few votes.

So Trump says he committed no crimes... he paid off the porn star with HIS OWN MONEY. Is that true? Don't forget, truth doesn't matter to Trump. There is no truth... only words to make it through the next news cycle

No matter what the future holds, Trump staring at the eclipse could be his presidency's most enduring symbol. Either it will not see 20/20, or prove that in the land of the blind, the guy who stares at the eclipse remains king.

Concerning Afghanistan, I'm torn. On the one hand I agree with Trump that we gotta WIN! On the other hand I agree with Trump that people are dying needlessly, it's costing too much money, it's a total waste, we are not helping, and we got to get the hell out!

The guy says, “I’ll be behind the couch.”

Capote on Henri Cartier-Bresson- “I remember once watching Bresson at work on a street in New Orleans—dancing along the pavement like an agitated dragonfly, three Leicas swinging from straps around his neck, a fourth one hugged to his eye: click-click-click (the camera seems a part of his own body), clicking away with a joyous intensity, a religious absorption.”

I'm starting to think this bozo might not be entirely grounded in reality.

From Robert Reich: "Trump has made another preposterous claim about the economy. He now believes there won't be a recession because: "Our consumers are rich. I gave a tremendous tax cut and they’re loaded up with money.” Excuse me?

Here are the facts: The gains from Trump's tax cuts went overwhelmingly to the wealthy and corporations, and have done virtually nothing to boost ordinary Americans. At the same, his reckless trade wars will cost U.S. households more than $100 billion a year. Once again, Trump is living in a fantasy world as the economy teeters towards a recession."

To do my best to please.

To hell, my love, with you.

The Creepiest Things Kids Have Ever Said To Their Parents

“My daughter’s friend’s dad, Ian, came in for a cup of tea one day when he came to pick his daughter up. My girl, Izzy, was playing with a toy sword. Ian said to her, ‘You know, Izzy, the pen is mightier than the sword.’ Izzy said, ‘I know, yeah, because you can stab someone in the neck with a pen."

And another?

When my youngest daughter was about 2-3 we were just talking and she said "I died all by myself" I asked her why she was talking about. She said "not when you was my mommy, when I lived with my old mommy. She had brown skin and so did I. The spider bit me and I died all by myself!" She is deathly afraid of spiders still and she is almost 13!!

And to finish it off...

We were on our way home to Alabama from Texas and my son was in the backseat and he said "mommy, who's the man in the backseat with me?"

It was just us two. No one else with us (that I could see). I asked him to describe him and he said "he's just black with red eyes. He's scaring me."

So, I pulled over and out his seat in the front with me and he said the man looked like he wanted to eat me when I moved him.

So there's that.

I got a part-time job working at Aldi. Apparently. I get off work, I go over to Aldi, do my grocery shopping, clock in, run everything through the register and bag it up, clock out and go home. They don't even pay me. I don't know how they did it. Something about slowly decreasing the number of cashiers, while slowly increasing the number of self-checkout registers. Everybody shopping at Aldi, also works at Aldi. Genius.

...

Bertrand Russell, On Education, Especially in Early Childhood- "The widespread interest in gossip is inspired, not by a love of knowledge but by malice: no one gossips about other people's secret virtues, but only about their secret vices. Accordingly most gossip is untrue, but care is taken not to verify it. Our neighbour's sins, like the consolations of religion, are so agreeable that we do not stop to scrutinise the evidence closely."

...

Stephen Hawking- "We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special."

...

Tom Waits- "We are buried beneath the weight of information, which is being confused with knowledge; quantity is being confused with abundance and wealth with happiness.
We are monkeys with money and guns."

...

H.P. Lovecraft- "Almost nobody dances sober, unless they happen to be insane."

...

Steve Martin- "I gave my cat a bath the other day...they love it. He sat there, he enjoyed it, it was fun for me. The fur would stick to my tongue, but other than that..."
