Playing racquetball tonight, for some reason I remembered one of the best moments of my life. I had a racquetball class in college and one morning I was making a bunch of nice shots while playing the professor. He lunged for one of them, missed, and dry heaved a while until he wet heaved a little bit in his mouth. He ended the spectacle by spitting in the corner. We kept playing and I won. He said he shouldn't have drank so much the previous night. You said it, professor!

The president said today that Comey reopening Clinton's email case a few days before the election was a veiled attempt to get a job with her. Yep, and I guess if he wanted to be even more certain he'd get the job he should have murdered her family.

Feeling nostalgic moving out of our current warehouse. So many great air hockey games. Midway down, to the left there's one circled...it was marked in blood from a head wound I received during the game after I was thrown headfirst into a foosball table.

My cat snuck out and was lost for 24 hours. When he came back in he took a long, long pee in the litter box. He didn't realize he could have peed outside!

Jackie Robinson broke baseball's color line on this day in 1947, starting off a chain of events that would culminate in my watching Ken Burns' Baseball and busting out crying listening to Red Barber's account of that moment in time. Branch Rickey gave him the option to call the game properly with Jackie Robinson playing, where to quit. Red went home to think about it and ended up telling his wife that he thought he had to quit. She said, "Well you don't have to quit now, let's have a martini." Haha. He reflected on it for days and realized that it was just pure chance that he was born white and Jackie Robinson was born black. Elementary moral philosophy, you have treat others as you would want to be treated if you were in their shoes.

The first franchised McDonald's restaurant opened on this day in 1955, in Des Plaines, Illinois. I haven't eaten at a McDonald's for about 25 years. I would love to go back and eat at one of those early ones, back when the total people served was nintends of thousands versus the trillions. I bet all the food was delicious and healthy! They chose quantity over quality.

Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler was born on this day in 1707. He is probably the most significant mathematician that nobody has ever heard of, and universally considered the best of the 1700s. The flow of high school and college algebra textbooks are basically unchanged since Euler. You know what he said after he went blind? "Now I will have fewer distractions." What???

Seth Rogen was born on this day in 1982 when I was in second grade, learning how to add two three-digit numbers. I don't really find him funny, but I loved what he said about the oscars, questioning why anybody should even care about it, saying it's not like he cares about automobile awards.

How about the list of people who died on this day- Jean-Paul Sartre, Greta Garbo, Pol Pot, Edward Gorey, Joey Ramone, R. Lee Ermey, and Emma Morano, the last person alive who was born in the 1800s. I'm imagining R. Lee Ermey running that motley crew in hell. "The Ho Chi Minh is the son of a bitch, got the blue balls, crabs, and the seven year itch." I love that the seven year itch is included in that assortment of maladies. I didn't see the Seven Year Itch until about 30 years after I saw a Full Metal Jacket, and until that time I didn't know what the hell he was talking about.

Writer and naturalist, Henry Beston, left us on this day in 1968.
"The chromium millennium ahead of us, I gather, is going to be an age whose ideal is a fantastically unnatural human passivity. We are to spend our lives in cushioned easy chairs, growing indolent and heavy while intricate slave mechanisms do practically everything for us as we loll.
What a really appalling future! What normal human being would choose it, and what twist of the spirit has created this sluggish paradise?"

On this day in 1977, the day before it was to appear in court, cult leader Oric Bovar threw himself out a window in downtown Manhattan.
He had been trying to revive dead cult member for several months.
Angela Joyce, a copy editor, happened to look up at that moment to see a man in mid-air with his arms spread out in the shape of a cross. These cult leaders always see themselves as Jesus. His enlightenment/breakdown came after a coma.
He had one time said that if he left out a window, the Hand of God would pull him back.

Richard Dawkins- "If you're an atheist, you know, you believe, this is the only life you're going to get. It's a precious life. It's a beautiful life. Where if you're religious and you believe in another life somehow, that means you don't live this life to the full because you think you're going to get another one. That's an awfully negative way to live a life. Being a atheist frees you up to live this life properly, happily and fully."
